Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park is a United States National Park in northwestern Wyoming. At approximately 310,000 acres (480 sq mi; 130,000 ha; 1,300 km2), the park includes the major peaks of the 40-mile-long (64 km) Teton Range as well as most of the northern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. Grand Teton National Park is named for Grand Teton, the tallest mountain in the Teton Range. The naming of the mountains is attributed to early 19th-century French-speaking trappers—les trois tétons (the three teats) was later anglicized and shortened to Tetons. At 13,775 feet (4,199 m), Grand Teton abruptly rises more than 7,000 feet (2,100 m) above Jackson Hole, almost 850 feet (260 m) higher than Mount Owen, the second-highest summit in the range.

Hiking in Grand Teton National Park

During a road trip north through the Rocky Mountains, we stayed a few nights in Grand Teton National Park. We managed to fit in a couple hikes, and the views were nothing short of spectacular! This short video cannot do them justice - if you ever have a chance to visit here, you simply must do so.

Keeping the Teton River Wild

A pristine river in fed by the Tetons is threatened by the construction of a dam......again. It didn't work in the 70's, and it won't work now.

Here is why the Teton River needs to stay wild. This film was shot, edited and produced by Ian Avery-Leaf and features the work of Friends of the Teton River.

Like this film to vote for it as your favorite! The winning film-making team receives $1000 cash. Voting closes on Friday, October 30th at 5 pm MDT.

Hadley Drops the "Hammer" On Jackson's Classic Runs - Almost Live Season 8 Episode 2

Hadley Hammer is one of the lucky ones, lucky as in she grew up in the shadow of the Tetons. As a young grom she would stare at the cliff bands and chutes of Jackson Hole, terrified of their size and scale, only to crush those lines a few years later.

For next fall's movie we are lucky enough to be filming with a talent and personality like Hadley Hammer. She is showcasing her ability on some of Jackson's classic lines, including Corbet's Couloir and Alta Zero chute.

Motorcycle Camping - Grand Teton National Park

A short film we made during the time that we met up with Josh Laskin at Grand Teton National Park. He was nearing the end of a 12,000 mile motorcycle road trip where he camped out over 3 months along the way.

Motorcycle camping is similar to backpacking in the sense that gear choices must be considered in terms of size and weight because it’s all got to fit on 2 wheels.

Hope you guys enjoy this look at what it’s like to travel and camp by motorcycle in one of the most gorgeous parks of America.

Teton Range: Symmetry Spire Sunset Summit Panorama

Panorama from the summit of Symmetry Spire(10,560ft) after successfully climbing the Southwest Ridge route. The view from the top was epic, especiallly because it was sunset. The sunlight was streaming behind the Grand Teton and Teewinot and Mount Owen, and well as The Jaw, Mount St. John, Hanging Canyon, and nearly the whole northern Teton Range. Unfortunatly because we summited at sundown we had to scramble down the Northwest Ledges and the Upper and Lower Symmetry Couloir in the dark.

Teton Range: Baxter's Pinnacle Summit Panorama Vertigo

Footage from the summit of Baxter's Pinnacle, one of the most classic climbs in the Teton Range. The South Ridge/Face is rated at 5.9+, but is mostly 5.6 and 5.7, with the final pitch having a tough 5.9+ move. The climb supposedly is 6 pitches in length, but can be done in 4 if you scramble up the first pitch. The view from the summit is amazing, with the Grand Teton, Mount Owen, and Teewinot seen from a stunning angle. You must rappel off of the summit using a 70 meter rope and scramble down the gully in order to get down. From there it is a short hike from the mouth of Cascade Canyon around Jenny Lake to the parking area at String Lake.
